EndoRobotics' ROBOPERA™ Technology Recognized as a National Core Technology in Korea

EndoRobotics Co., Ltd. announced that Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR) has officially determined that the core technology of its ROBOPERA™ flexible endoscopic surgical robot system falls under the country's National Core Technology (NCT) framework. The determination was issued on October 1, 2026.

The technology was placed in the category of "design, manufacturing and control technology for laparoscopic, endoscopic and image-guided surgical robot systems." National Core Technology is designated and managed by the Korean government under the Act on Prevention of Divulgence and Protection of Industrial Technology, and covers technologies judged to hold high technical and economic value, or strong growth potential for their industry.

ROBOPERA™ allows gastrointestinal lesions to be resected without an incision: an endoscope and robotic instruments are introduced together through a natural orifice such as the mouth or anus. The system received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance in 2025.

"This determination is official confirmation that the endoscopic surgical robot technology EndoRobotics has built on its own belongs to a field important enough to be protected and managed at a national level," said Byung Gon Kim, Co-founder and CEO of EndoRobotics. "For a company that partners and competes with the world's leading players, it is a milestone that speaks to the strategic importance and the credibility of the technology we hold."

"With FDA clearance, our global partnership with Olympus, and now this determination, we intend to make ROBOPERA™ a leading example of surgical robot technology developed in Korea succeeding in global markets," Kim added.

EndoRobotics signed an exclusive global distribution agreement with Olympus in May 2026 and is in final preparations for its U.S. market launch in the second half of 2026.
